Other Music Opportunities
Honor BandMusically advanced students from each of the schools Overture serves can be nominated by their band director to participate in Overture's Honor Band. Honor Band offers these students a larger group band experience, the opportunity to play challenging music, and an extended performance schedule.
Students who participate in Honor Band gain self-confidence, achieve a higher level of musicianship, and attain musical leadership which they bring back and incorporate into their own school band. Jazz BandStudents in grades 6-12 are eligible to participate Overture's Jazz Band, where they will get to experience playing jazz music and improvisation. The Jazz Band has its performances in conjunction with the Honor Band performances.

WSMA (Wisconsin School Music Association) ActivitiesStudents in grades 6-12 are eligible to participate in the Wisconsin School Music Association's (WSMA) Solo and Ensemble Festival. This festival is run at both a district and state level and teaches students the valuable life skills of dedication, perseverance, and striving for excellence.
WSMA also has a State Honors Band program for middle school and high school students. Students must audition, and those selected to participate perform at the State Music Convention in October. Summer Music OpportunitiesSome of Overture's teachers also offer private lessons for those students of Overture Band Programs who wish to continue their instrumental music instruction during the summer.
